Audix is a US microphone manufacturer founded in 1984 in California by Cliff Castle and Fred Bigeh. In 1991 it moved to Wilsonville, Oregon, where it built its own R&D and manufacturing plant, complete with an indoor soundstage for testing microphones in real conditions. It still designs and produces there.
Its reputation was built on stage. The OM series of dynamic vocal microphones became famous when Eddie Vedder appeared with an OM7 on the cover of Time in 1993, and the D6 turned into a de facto standard for miking the kick drum. The i5, its instrument microphone, is one of those that ends up on every snare and guitar cabinet.
At DJMania you will find its range of dynamic and instrument microphones — led by the i5 —, condenser microphones such as the SCX 25 A, drum kits like the DP Quad, and live and conference miking: headset, lavalier, instrument clips and stands.
It is the brand you pick when the microphone is going to work every day and has to sound the same in year ten as in year one.
