Cort Guitars is one of those brands whose name is seen less often than it is played. The South Korean company has been building guitars since 1973, when Yung H. Park and the American Jack Westheimer set the business up on what had been a piano importer, and it has since become one of the largest manufacturers in the world: besides its own brand, it builds instruments for many other names in the industry.
That double role explains its price-to-quality ratio. Cort designs and produces in its own plants — South Korea, plus Surabaya in Indonesia and Dalian in China — with the processes and timbers of a large manufacturer, but without the brand premium of other historic houses.
At DJMania its range is split almost evenly between electric, acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars, plus a solid line of basses. Among the most viewed are the solid-body Classic Rock series, the five-string basses and the Yorktown-style hollow bodies.
It is the brand you turn to for a real instrument to start seriously on, or a second guitar without paying for the name.
