Blackstar was founded in 2007 in Northampton, England, by a group of engineers who came from Marshall. It started with a declared obsession — giving players control over the character of the sound and not just its volume — and out of that came the ISF, its patented control that sweeps the EQ behaviour continuously between British and American voicings.
In a few years it has moved among the reference names in guitar amplification, with a range that runs from a three watt amp that fits in a backpack to a valve head for the stage, taking in digital modelling along the way.
At DJMania you will mostly find its solid-state combos, with house classics such as the Fly 3 — the 3 W mini with tape delay and ISF EQ — alongside valve combos and heads, cabinets and the hand-built Artisan series. Accessories such as the Tone:Link and the brand's pedals complete the range.
It is the logical choice for valve tone at home without upsetting the neighbours, and equally for a serious head for the rehearsal room.
