Orange is one of the most recognisable names in the history of amplification, and literally so: the orange tolex on its heads and cabinets is identifiable from the back of a room. Cliff Cooper founded it in London in 1968, when he opened an instrument shop at 3 New Compton Street to support the recording studio he ran in the basement, and ended up building his own amplifiers.
The sound came before the marketing: Fleetwood Mac were among the first to use them, and Peter Green took the company's first 200 watt head out on tour. The brand has kept a very distinct identity ever since, with a thick character and a response long associated with rock and with low end that has body.
At DJMania you will find its valve heads — including the Terror family, those compact heads that fit in a gig bag —, the Crush combos for home and rehearsal, cabinets and bass amplification such as the AD200B. Its acoustic guitar range is here too.
If you want an amplifier with a character of its own that is also recognisable from three metres away, this is the brand.
