JBL BandBox Solo

The JBL BandBox Solo is a pocket practice amp with a trick that changes how you practise: it separates vocals, drums and guitar in real time from any song. Play a track from your phone, press Stem AI, pull out your part and step inside the original band.

It weighs 530 grams, measures 15 centimetres and has a silicone loop to hang it from a gig bag or music stand. Inside is a 2.25" full-range driver with 18 W RMS of clean power, enough for practising at home, in the rehearsal room or a hotel room, with guitar, bass, voice or drum backing sounding full.

Stem AI: practise with the real song

Mute the guitar and take the solo, drop the vocal and sing over it, or keep only the drums to work on timing. Stuck on a riff? Isolate it and loop it until it clicks. The pitch shifter moves the song to your tuning or vocal key.

Amp and pedalboard in your pocket

It comes with vintage and modern amp models and classic pedal effects: phaser, chorus, tremolo and reverb. The side input has a guitar/mic switch, so it works for instrument or voice. A tuner, metronome and looper are built in, and everything is adjustable from the JBL One app.

Record and practise silently

Over USB-C it connects to a computer as a USB audio interface (24-bit / 48 kHz PCM) to record straight into your DAW. The headphone output lets you practise at any hour. The 17 Wh battery gives up to 6 hours and charges over USB-C in about 3.5 hours.

Who is it for?

• Guitarists, bassists and singers who practise with real songs instead of generic backing tracks
• Travelling musicians who want an amp that fits in the gig bag pocket
• As a first amp: it sounds good, teaches you to play with a band and takes no space
