JBL BandBox Trio

The JBL BandBox Trio is an all-in-one practice amp and speaker that does something no amp did before: it separates vocals, drums and guitar in real time from any song you send it. Stream a track over Bluetooth, press Stem AI and pull out the part you are going to play. The band keeps going; the gap is yours.

It is more than a practice amp. With 135 W RMS, a 6.5" woofer, two 25 mm silk dome tweeters and a 4-channel mixer with a display, it handles a small band rehearsal, an acoustic duo or a bar gig without a PA.

Stem AI: play over the original song

AI stem separation works on any audio coming in over Bluetooth or USB. Mute the guitar to take the solo, drop the vocal to sing it yourself, keep only the drums to lock in the groove, or isolate a riff to learn it note by note. Pitch shifting matches the song to your tuning or vocal range without retuning.

4-channel mixer for the whole band

• CH1 and CH2: combo XLR/jack inputs with switch, for mics, keys, bass or an electronic drum kit
• CH3: guitar jack input with amp models and the pedal chain
• CH4: Bluetooth 5.4, 3.5 mm aux input and USB-C
• Display with per-channel and master volume, five encoders, channel selector and a dedicated Stem AI button

Amps, pedals and practice tools

The guitar channel brings classic amp models, from sparkling cleans to high-gain distortion, and pedal effects such as phaser, chorus and reverb, chained like a pedalboard. Vocals get their own reverb and delay. For practice there is a tuner, metronome, drum machine with presets and a looper. Everything is controlled on the unit or from the JBL One app, which adds EQ, tone, key and custom effect chains.

Record, go out and play unplugged

The USB-C port is a USB audio interface (24-bit / 48 kHz stereo PCM) for recording straight to a computer, and it also charges your phone (5 V / 3 A). There is a headphone output for silent practice and a Pass Thru line output to feed a second speaker or a desk.

The 68 Wh lithium battery gives up to 10 hours and charges in 3 hours. It is swappable: with a spare JBL Battery 400 (not included) the session never stops. At home it runs from the mains (100-240 V) or from USB-C PD at 20 V.

Who is it for?

• Guitarists and singers who want to rehearse over the original recordings
• Duos and small bands who need one box to rehearse or play venues without a PA
• Music teachers: isolating and slowing parts of a song in class is instant
